I previously posted about this remote on a bargain watch post, and since then, I have ordered, received, and set up this universal remote. Here are my impressions, tips, tricks, and other information about the remote.

This week, I have rolled out a few new features. Nothing major, but small things designed to improve your experience on this site. Things such as email subscriptions, related posts, Microsoft points icon, and a return of sharing.

Activision has announced that Geometry Wars 2 is coming out, sooner than you may think. During E3, they told us August 6th, but now, they have announced that the game will be avalible for 800 on July 30th. Thats 6 days early.
They also announced details about the game. There will be 5 gametypes. Waves (The classic one), Pacifism (Yes, the achievement is now a game mode), and King, Deadline, and Sequence.
All gametypes can be played solo, or with up to 4 people on one console. Multiplayer allows for co-op and competitive modes. Also, a co-pilot mode is said to be avalible, in which one player shoots and the other drives. No word on Xbox Live.
We all know what I’m talking about. Those plastic packages that new electronic goodies come in. Your new toy is there, behind a few millimeters of plastic, but out of reach. You will spend the next 5 minutes to an hour trying to crack the plastic, to use your toy. There has to be a better way.
We have all tried scissors, razors, even pizza cutters. Some people even buy a special package opener.
But there is a simple, better way. Use a can opener. Any rotary style can opener will work, as long as its manual. You could probably use an electric opener, but thats a little more unsafe. Cramp the knives of the opener down on the raised edge, or anywhere on the inside of the glue line, and turn away. Presto, a clean edge and your favorite gadget, all in a few seconds.
As always, Paradox designs is not responsible for any damage you may incur during this process, either to yourself, your can opener, or your packaged product.
Following my review of the new Facebook design (New Facebook design review), I am writing a review of the new DeviantArt design. The new design is quite pretty, it improves areas that needed improvement drastically over v5, such as the message center and other areas of the site still using the v4 theme.

Facebook is launching a new design, one that has been in development for several months. Some people may already have it, others may not. But either way, if you have a facebook account, you need to know the ins, outs, changes, bugs and other things that the new design brings.

Well, E3 is over, and it was fun this year, better than last year, but not as big as previous years. However, Microsoft made some pretty big announcements, but little about said announcements was shown at the show. Perhaps the biggest was the news about a new dashboard for the Xbox360. Now, since images may not be enough for some people to understand this interface, there are videos.

They had very little to show at e3 this year, except this trailer. Very little was shown about the game, in fact, almost nothing at all was shown. Still, its something, better than a lot of companies announcements.
Watch for some extra goodness crotch wise.
One concern many gamers had with the new Xbox360 interface was their ability to use themes. Major Nelson has dissapated any stresses with a recient blog post, revealing what the themes “could” look like. The current preview looks really nice, so thats probably what microsoft will do.
I think that is a great improvement over the current theme system. The current system only changes the background, and as such can render text and other UI elements hard to use. The new theme looks as if it will not only change backgrounds, but change text color, images, and other UI elements.
The LA times has a story on why microsoft canceled bungie’s appearance at E3.
Turns out that Bungie’s latest Halo project was originally part of the program for Microsoft’s press conference on Monday, but it was taken out of the lineup at the last minute. Don Mattrick, senior vice president of Microsoft’s Xbox games business, said the company decided to pull Halo …
… to help trim its E3 presentation to under 90 minutes, from 2 1/2
hours, to accommodate attention-challenged reporters. “We had an
embarrassment of riches,” Mattrick said. “We felt we could do this game
more justice with a more
dedicated event.”
