Well, E3 is over, and it was fun this year, better than last year, but not as big as previous years. However, Microsoft made some pretty big announcements, but little about said announcements was shown at the show. Perhaps the biggest was the news about a new dashboard for the Xbox360. Now, since images may not be enough for some people to understand this interface, there are videos.
Fist off, if you have been anywhere near your 360 this week, and have gone to the InsideXbox button on the dash, you have probably seen the ad for the new interface. In typical advertising fashon, everything is perfect, and you cant really see too many details about the interface. That ad is below for those of you who don’t have a 360 or missed the video:
And here is the more detailed view:
Ok, now i need to dispell some ideas I posted earlier, and also dispell some common misconceptions i see. First, the Netflix que will not let you browse the netflix library, you need a PC to do that. Also, the speed at which videos are ready to watch will vary from box to box. This is no big deal, because NF has been pretty good, and if it does take a while to buffer, go and make popcorn while you wait.
Second, the Friends list. I have heard lots of angry comments saying OMG THAT GOT RID OF THE FRIENDS LIST WTF.
The friends list is still there, the list did not go anywhere. Lists are boring, all they hold is data. What has changed is the way people view the list. The new community page is just an interface for the list. I presume the guide interface will have a classic friends list, that is, one that is just names in alphabetical order.
