These past few days, I have added a forum to Paradox Designs. This isnt like your average forum, though. This is much cleaner and better.

When you first visit the forums, you should notice how uncluttered it is. This is what I intended. Most modern forum software tries to shove all the content at you at once, whereas this forum lets you choose what you want to see. The emphasis is taken away from individual forums, and instead put on tags and popularity. The forums now become more like categories.

But thats not all. Signing up for a forum account also gets you a comment account on the blog. You can post, edit, and track your comments. Thats right, one account for both services.

I hope you guys enjoy it, and please report any bugs you may have.

If you havn't yet heard, a few friends and I are starting a podcast for Fyreball. Fyreball is a social network that allows you to interchange stories and threads among friends. It is like one big megaforum.

The podcast will be hosted here, in a new category called "Fyrecast". The podcast will also be avalible for download from iTunes and other services.

For more information, visit the fyreball about the podcast 815417267f76f6f460a4a61f9db75fdb%3Ca%20href%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fyreball.com%2Fd%2FBMS8yY%22%3Ehere%3C%2Fa%3E.%3C%2Fp%3E%20%0A%3C%2Fpre%3E0fbd1776e1ad22c59a7080d35c7fd4db

Today, I spent some time drawing out ideas for a map I am helping lead development. The map is called Orbital Station 42, and is set to be developed by many mappers of the community. This afternoon, I sketched up 2 levels, the vent systems connecting them, and some other information.

Hopefully I will be able to get more drawn and uploaded.

For more info about OS42 map development, visit its fourms:

<p>Recently, I have been playing with the WAP plugin for winamp and Logitech G15. This plugin enhances the media controls of the keyboard, and lets you move around winamp from other application (eg gaming). It has features like keyboard light flashing, but I leave them disabled.</p> <p>Sorry for the sparse update, but i cant think of much to say.</p> <p>Bioshock is quite fun, expect a review when i finish the game.</p>

There are quite a few program launchers avalible. Most of them are either bloated in function, slow, or cost money. Now, there is a new one, from the folks at CandyLabs (they made approcket), titled Skylight.

<p>Well, although my official launch was some time around the 5th of April, I started setting everything up on the 1st, so this site is now 1 month old.</p> <p>In that month, the following has happened:</p> <ul> <li>First design went up, stayed up for about 2 weeks <ul><li>Featured ajax<ul><li>Cool, but slow</li></ul></li></ul></li> <li>Second design went up, due to complaints about speed and preformance of 1st layout</li> <li>Second design stayed up</li> <li>2nd column added</li> <li>Small amounts of ajax added</li> <li>327 Unique visits</li> <li>511.88 MB transferred</li> <li>48332 hits</li> <li>11510 pages served</li> <li>1 visitor from an iPhone</li> </ul> <p>All in all, it was a very successful month.</p> <p>And dont worry, this is a one time occurance, i wont post these zeitgeists every month, only when records are broken.</p>

<p>Don't be afraid, im not going all out ajax like I did with my first edition of this site. All i have done is add a bit of ajax. A little teeny bit. You likely will rarely ever notice it.</p> <h3>Calendar</h3> <p>Yes, the calendar is back. I rethemed it, and now it matches this theme much better. Now you can see what i post when. Its just as fast as it was before, and just as easy to use. You can see it in the 2nd column</p> <h3>AutoMore</h3> <p>This is what i like to call it. Basically, now when your reading over my blog, and you want to read more of an article, and there is a more link, you dont have to wait for a page refresh, the content loads inline. This allows you to read the full article, and then read others, all seamlessly. Want the page to shrink back down? click the hide link at the bottom of the post, and it will zoom back up to its old format, allowing you to scroll much easier.</p> <p>What do you guys think about these ajax changes?</p>

Digsby, my IM program of choice, has added Facebook chat support. For those who don't know, Facebook recently added a chat feature to their site, and, although clean and well built, it required you to stay on facebook or have a browser open. This was crippling. Now, since digsby supports it, you can chat with your friends at any time.

This demonstrates something remarkible about digsby. Yes, there are many other all in one IM clients out there, but Digsby does something none of the others do. They update frequently and add new protocols. Facebook currently says that We do not support 3rd party chat applications at the moment, yet digsby works perfectly.

The update didn't go flawlessly for me, I had to download and install a copy the old fashoned way, but other than that, it was smooth.

The only real problem i can see with the current implementation is that my Facebook contacts aren't mixed into my normal list. Digsby claims they are working on it, so hopefully it will be ready in a few days.

One of my favorite tools for windows is Process explorer. Process explorer is a tool that integrates itself into the shell (if you tell it to do so), and replaces the task manager. It provides an enhanced view of every process running on the system, as well as CPU stats, Commit stats, and IO stats. While it is fairly basic without configuration, if you enable the tree view, and add a few columns (such as CPU history), it becomes downright useful. If you are using windows, and wish to have better control over your processes, download and use this tool. Its completely self contained, so you can put it on a flash drive or cd. Best of all, its free, and fully supported by microsoft.
