Kotaku got their first hands-on in real life with the NXE, and they talked about some surprising details. Its nice to have an unbiased article about it. You will likely see several more, as the early preview has launched. Unfortunately, I was not one to receive an email, so you will not be getting one from here.

In the MP3/Music player market there are 2 distinct players. The iPod, which controls most of the market, and the Zune, which holds a measly portion. However, market share numbers do not match feature counts. Zune has many oft-demanded features, and on this front seems to be the better player. However, people seem to have a market bias towards the iPod, and it is what is purchased by default. This is likely due to the iPods nature of being the first major music player, and the best, a title it held for a remarkably long time. However, with recent updates, the trend seems to be shifting
Windows 7 was announced today, if you can call it that. While knowledge about some of the operating system’s features has been out for months, this is the first time screenshots and any real meat has been released.
Among other things, 7 features a new interface, performance gains[1], time saving features, and many other fixes. What particularly interests me is the new Taskbar. Instead of merely holding running programs and toolbars, it holds tasks, icons, and many other things, a la OS X Dock. Window titles can be moved around[2], and the division between Quick Launch toolbar, the taskbar, and the system tray has been blurred. Additionally, each entry in the start menu now has a Jump Menu
, which lets you repeat frequent tasks. The Windows Search has been refined, and now uses learning, much like application launchers, to determine what you want to do.
Many window management features, a la Exposé, are added to the system, triggered by hot corners[3]. These include making all windows transparent, letting you see the desktop, and making a single window maximized.

This Tuesday, the Mercenaries 2 update was supposed to come out. It did, but not in the sense in which i could use it. Pandemic, contrary to what they have previously said, did not release the Xbox360 update first, and the PS3 update later, rather, did an about face and released the PS3 update, with the Xbox360 update coming out “sometime in November.” This is the second time they have delayed the Xbox360 update, with no reason, but there is likely some internal reason.

This is a feature that is found in SMF, and a lot of MyBB users I know have asked about a similar feature. While this is not a simple preference pane value, it is easy to set up, and anyone should be able to do so.

I have had the Shadowrun game for a while, given to me by a friend, but I only recently opened it. I had heard very little about the game, so didn’t know what to expect. After playing it for 2 days, I feel i can write a comprehensive review.

One of the features i have mentioned in the past about the NXE was the ability to watch Netflix movies with up to 8 friends.
Apparently this has been cut from the initial release in November, but may be added into the console’s feature set at any time.
Photosharing, however, will be included at launch (yay).
From the MS Press Briefing:
Photo Sharing is going to be available at launch.
With regards to movies, the New Xbox Experience is a long term initiative, what we are rolling out in November is only the beginning! With the New Xbox Experience we will have the flexibility to roll out features and updates dynamically, unlike in the past where we were on a more biannual schedule. So, there are a lot more exciting features, including Movie Sharing that will be coming soon.
This is something which has remained widely disputed on the internet, and a search turns up inconclusive results.

You have to be invited to visit. The invite has to come from someone on the inside.
I found this out the hard way this weekend when i attempted to visit.
