Activision has announced that Geometry Wars 2 is coming out, sooner than you may think. During E3, they told us August 6th, but now, they have announced that the game will be avalible for 800 on July 30th. Thats 6 days early.

They also announced details about the game. There will be 5 gametypes. Waves (The classic one), Pacifism (Yes, the achievement is now a game mode), and King, Deadline, and Sequence.

All gametypes can be played solo, or with up to 4 people on one console. Multiplayer allows for co-op and competitive modes. Also, a co-pilot mode is said to be avalible, in which one player shoots and the other drives. No word on Xbox Live.

e3 logoThe LA times has a story on why microsoft canceled bungie’s appearance at E3.

Turns out that Bungie’s latest Halo project was originally part of the program for Microsoft’s press conference on Monday, but it was taken out of the lineup at the last minute. Don Mattrick, senior vice president of Microsoft’s Xbox games business, said the company decided to pull Halo …

… to help trim its E3 presentation to under 90 minutes, from 2 1/2

hours, to accommodate attention-challenged reporters. “We had an

embarrassment of riches,” Mattrick said. “We felt we could do this game

more justice with a more

dedicated event.”

e3 logoToday was the first day of E3, and microsoft kicked it off with a bang, revealing many things at their press conference. Things from innovative new games to xbox live features. The new games, while cool looking, don’t really pike my interest. However, the xbox live update looks like it will be amazing.

One of my favorite tools for windows is Process explorer. Process explorer is a tool that integrates itself into the shell (if you tell it to do so), and replaces the task manager. It provides an enhanced view of every process running on the system, as well as CPU stats, Commit stats, and IO stats. While it is fairly basic without configuration, if you enable the tree view, and add a few columns (such as CPU history), it becomes downright useful. If you are using windows, and wish to have better control over your processes, download and use this tool. Its completely self contained, so you can put it on a flash drive or cd. Best of all, its free, and fully supported by microsoft.
