I have been working on the Tremulous wiki for the past few days, and one of the goals of the wiki is to get a page for every cvar/command. There are over 300 cvars.

We could have done the traditional wiki thing, that is, let it sit and people add them one by one. Or we could do a truly efficient thing, use a script. DavidSev made a script that would take the output of the ingame cvarlist, convert it to a wiki format, and add infoboxes and categories and all that.

He used this script to generate XML import documents in mediawiki format. The next part was really quite easy, just run the import script on mediawiki.

Now, we have done what would have taken weeks otherwise in a few hours. But we still have content to add.

Medawiki is a most flexible tool, and this becomes more apparent the more i use it.

Yes, I finally made an update to the p-g-qvm project. This one adds a number of new features that are sure to make the qvm more useful and keep it present. There are also quite a few bugfixes and things of that relation that should make it more stable.

Well, this is an important release of the qvm, because it features changes that will hopefully allow the qvm to appeal to more members of the community. 1.6.2 removes a number of the abusive commands[1. That is, !switch, !mix, !trade, !steal, !explode, !drug], and duplicates some of their functionality with non-abusible counterparts. Read on for details.

Yet another release of P-G-Qvm. This one is not as big as the other, but still substantial, and introduces quite a few features, as well as a few bugfixes.

A new version of P-G-Qvm has been released today. For those of you who have used only the pre-compiled versions, the changelog is quite big, and for those of you who have used SVN versions, it isnt so big, but various security flaws have been fixed. Read on for details about the release, whats changed, and why you should update.

Well, I have been patching in new features to the P-G-Qvm source, and an update can be expected soon.

One of the bigger new features is bleedingSprees and outlaws. These are a new preventitive measure against deconning. Whats that mean? Basically, if you bleed too much in a minute, your base turns against you and shoots you for a time. But if you piss off an admin too much, they can !outlaw you. !outlaw is a flexible command, it allows admins to either add or subtract from someone's bleeder score, set someone as a bleeder, or reset the bleeder value. It also allows an admin to query the amount of bleeder data.

Many bugs will be fixed later today, when i apply the newest patch from rezyn (our 100th issue on the tracker).

As always, the development page for this qvm is at google code: 815417267f76f6f460a4a61f9db75fdb%3Ca%20href%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fp-g-qvm.googlecode.com%22%3Ehttp%3A%2F%2Fp-g-qvm.googlecode.com%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%20%0A%3C%2Fpre%3E0fbd1776e1ad22c59a7080d35c7fd4db

Today, I spent some time drawing out ideas for a map I am helping lead development. The map is called Orbital Station 42, and is set to be developed by many mappers of the community. This afternoon, I sketched up 2 levels, the vent systems connecting them, and some other information.

Hopefully I will be able to get more drawn and uploaded.

For more info about OS42 map development, visit its fourms:

Well, the lan party went well yesterday. We had a halo tournament as well as a brawl tournament. In the Halo tournament, i made it all the way to the finals. The final score, 25-23 them. Brawl looked like it went well, although i cant make a good judgement, as i dont play it.

All in all, this was very successful.
People seemed to enjoy Call of Duty, and that was to be expected, but very few people played tremulous. Ah well, i played some games on SST, and was entertained.

Well, the redesign has been quite painless. This new theme is simple, clean, and people seem to like it. I have gotten some comments on it looking wordpress, and well, thats what it is. Since the migration, i have added a few features here and there, but nothing too drastic. I am a bit hesetant to add things, as i am waiting for MU 1.5 to come out. Its in RC-1 now, so it should come any day.

I have also switched to a 2 bar layout, as the previous one was feeling cramped and overloaded. Please tell me how you feel about this.

Other stuff

This blog has consumed a large share of my time lately, and as such, i havn’t devoted it to other things. Rest assured that i will be returning to Tremulous, my various forums, Xbox live, and all the other places i hang out.

Lan

This weekend I am helping run a Lan party. This is a fair sized party, with a number of fun games on the board, including Tremulous and Halo 3. This looks like it will be quite fun, I cant wait to defeat everyone in halo 3 *joke*. Expect a full writeup on it later.
