Opera 9.2 was really quite good. It had features that could compare to Firefox3[1. Or at least the version avalible at the time], used less system resources, was faster, and looked better (when you themed it). Opera has had a beta out for a while, but what really enthralled me was the addition of Dragonfly.

Evernote is an application that lets you store and create notes. Its pretty much a virtual spiral notebook. While the actual application idea for Evernote has been around for a while[2. An early version shipped with my graphics tablet back in 05], it has gotten a recent overhall, and is much nicer to use now.

I don’t know when they posted it, but the Google Chart api has gotten much better. They have added a few new types of graph, such as spark graphs (think stock charts), country maps (for viewing data by country), and a cool new graph called a Google-o-meter
(like a gauge). This api is getting better and better, and since it has no data cap, i am thinking about some implementations here on this site. Perhaps a Google-o-meter instead of review stars, or a pie chart in polls. The possibilities are really endless.
I spent the past afternoon fighting with several quote database and pastebin scripts. This has allowed me to draw the conclusion that these scripts suck ass.
Quote Database
I spent a long amount of time trying to get a quote database set up. I tried many things, all of them failed. All the quote databases i tried either sucked, were too ugly to use, or didn’t work with my setup. The last one, those that didn’t work with my setup, was most annoying, because i have a webhost with perl installed, and i followed the instructions in the install files to the letter, yet nothing.
Pastebins
Giving up on the quote db, i decided to use a pastebin. I went to the big pastebin, pastebin.com. and downloaded their application. Lo and behold, the MySQl code in the installer doesnt work.
As such, i have had a very stressful day.
